Bacillophobia: Information, Causes and Treatment
October 6, 2008

This world of pollution proves to fill the air with pollutants and microbes and living with such an atmosphere is quite difficult. This is why bacillophobia manifests itself in some people; but this condition can be cured with the right treatment and help.

The air that we breathe is not only full of oxygen, along with it you also find many other particles in it like dust particles and microbes. It is generally because of inhalation of this atmosphere with microbes and dust in it that allergies occur. And with these allergies, you find many people who have a fear of microbes and this fear is called bacillophobia.

It can be said that bacillophobia is a condition where the person has an abnormal fear of microbes. It is quite natural for a person to avoid dust and microbes whenever possible. However, there are people who suffer from bacillophobia that find it very difficult to breathe air in places besides their own abode. This is because they fear the microbes from the air entering their body.

This is the reason why people suffering from bacillophobia tend to become loners as they are generally comfortable only in their own homes which they maintain well. They keep their homes spic and span, with repeated dusting and cleaning of the place. However, they are not comfortable going out and meeting people or working because of fear of the microbes present in such places.

Such people suffering from bacillophobia cannot work and generate an increased income as they cannot go to offices for work. Of course, they may work from home but there will definitely be conditions of going to banks and stores which they do reluctantly and with a fear of bacillophobia. Moreover, they will not be comfortable going out to restaurants and hotels because of bacillophobia and this in turn plays a bad point in their social life.

People suffering from bacillophobia tend to suffer from panic attacks when they find microbes in the air. The symptoms for panic attacks are rapid breathing, nausea, irregular heartbeats and sweating. Different people suffer from different symptoms from these panic attacks. However, it is heartening to learn that bacillophobia is a condition that can be cured if the right person is approached.

There is no point in trying out any of the drugs that claim to solve bacillophobia as this is not possible. There is some cure from the drugs; but this cure is temporary where in panic attacks and symptoms tend to reappear with the discontinuation of the drug. Along with this, you find side effects and withdrawal symptoms manifesting itself in the body of the person suffering from bacillophobia.

There is no point in repeatedly placing the person suffering from bacillophobia in places full of microbes with the intention of curing them of the condition. In fact, this will only aggravate the condition where the person suffers from more intense panic attacks. The best thing to be done to cure a person from bacillophobia will be to approach a psychologist or a phobia clinic.

Here, the patient is offered counseling wherein the basic fear that triggers bacillophobia is eradicated from the mind of the victim. Once this triggering factor is eliminated from the mind, then the fear of microbes, and bacillophobia is cured.
