Ataxophobia: Information, Causes and Treatment
October 6, 2008

If you have a friend or relative who just keeps cleaning and does not like disorder and untidiness, then it is probable that he or she is suffering from ataxophobia. Find out the cause for ataxophobia, and try to eliminate it as soon as possible.

Some of you may have a friend or relative that tends to have a great fetish of cleanliness and tidiness. These people just keep on cleaning, dusting, wiping and scrubbing and are really not happy with the work anyone does. They have to do their cleaning on their own, and any cleaning done by anyone else is generally redone by the person. You may take this as a fetish, and in your stride; however these people don't have fetish, but are instead, have a phobia.

The phobia these people suffer from is ataxophobia and is a condition where the victim has an abnormal fear of disorder and untidiness. They are never content with cleanliness, and are always cleaning and wiping away. Living with such people may be rather tiring to the people living with them. This is because living with such people will not be relaxing; everyday will seem to be like a day in a military camp with strict orders for cleanliness and order.

With this attitude for disorder, the person suffering from ataxophobia will soon become a loner as no one will actually like their company. Moreover, with their fetish for cleanliness, not much concentration can be placed in their work, and this leads to them not getting any promotion. Life tends to be rather miserable for such people; and the only thing that can be done to make life interesting for them is to try to eliminate ataxophobia.

There are cases where people suffering from ataxophobia start experiencing panic attacks on seeing disorder. These people tend to experience nausea, shortness of breath, rapid breathing and irregular heart beats. This is why it is important to try and cure any person suffering from ataxophobia as soon, and as easily as possible.

There is no point in trying to use any of the so-called drugs that claim to cure ataxophobia as no drug can actually cure ataxophobia, or any other phobia. This is because these only offer temporary relief from the drugs, and not a permanent relief. This temporary relief is due to the chemical reaction of the drug in your body. Prolonged use of this drug may lead to side effects in the long run, and even withdrawal symptoms.

There is no point in repeatedly exposing the victim to the fear as prescribed by some people. Though these people claim that this leads to a cure from ataxophobia, it tends to only aggravate the situation. In fact, on exposure to excessive disorder and untidiness, you will only entice the victim to go on a spree of cleaning and not help the victim overcome ataxophobia.

It is basically better to approach a psychologist or a phobia center for a cure from ataxophobia. The psychologists here tend to help eradicate all and any fear he or she may have for untidiness and disorder completely from the mind. With this method of eliminating of the fear, it is possible to cure the patient from ataxophobia and thus permit the victim to live a normal life with permissible disorder.
