Arachnephobia: Information, Causes and Treatment |
||||||||||||||||||
Arachnephobia is an irrational and unwarranted fear of spiders. This phobia is most commonly referred as fear of spiders among the people. Some arachnephobics fumigate their homes on a regular basis, wash all fruits and vegetables, and check incoming bags and other containers where spiders might be hiding. They are typically unable to go on a picnic or stay in strange hotels or houses, and they are always checking around themselves when they are outside. Some people have been known to become physically sick at the sight (view) of a spider.
There are many who mildly dislike spiders; however, this arachnephobia creates much more intense reaction: Seeing a spider makes it rigid with fear; hot, trembling and dizzy. People feel occasionally vomited and once fainted in order to escape from the situation. These symptoms will last as long as three or four days after seeing a spider. Even realistic pictures can cause the same effect, especially if anybody places a hand on spider by mistake.
At present about 30,000 species of spiders have been recognized, although it is certain that many more have yet to be discovered from all parts of the world. The spiders are known to occupy nearly every terrestrial habitat, from the peaks of the highest mountain ranges to the depths of the largest caves and holes, from damp marsh to dry desert, anywhere in fact that they can find other arthropods to provide them with a meal. Scary aliens ones, fuzzy black crabby ones, tiny brown long legged ones...even black widow poison ones really causes lot of immense reactions sometimes.
Seeing a spider or only thinking about a spider can sometimes result in the following symptoms:
Dry mouth, feeling sick, shaking, breathlessness, a fear of dying, dizziness, excessive sweating, nausea, heart palpitations, inability to speak or think clearly, becoming mad or losing control, a sensation of detachment from reality or a full blown anxiety attack.
Imagine the freedom you feel when you can casually walk past a spider, get on a airplane without feeling like your heart is going to burst out of your chest, comfortably ride an elevator to the 63rd floor or give a speech with ease.
Whatever your phobia, despite the consequences of how long you have suffered from it, despite the dreadful life limitations you have endured because of your fear, your phobia can be cured.
Even better, the cure will not require painful therapies, loads of money, gambling with your health, and sacrifices of time or a long delay until treatment finally works.
In as little as 15 minutes you could be free of your phobia, the intense fear that has been crippling your life. It generally does not hurt one bit also. You can perform the cure in the isolation of your own home. And your cure costs less than a third of what you would normally pay for just one 50-minute session with a psychiatrist. You can opt for using either the Cognitive Therapies, drugs that allow you to overcome this phobia or also the Energy Psychology measures.
