Antlophobia: Information, Causes and Treatment
March 13, 2010

Antlophobia is a persistent and unwarranted fear of floods. This causes immense distress to the person suffering from antlophobia and it isolates him/her from the society completely.

Antlophobia is defined as "a persistent, abnormal, and unwarranted fear of floods", each year this surprisingly common phobia causes immense distress.

Most antlophobia therapies require the patient to be exposed repeatedly to their fear and this often will make the condition worse and it is particularly cruel as antlophobia can be eliminated with the right methods and just 24 hours of commitment by the phobic individual.

Antlophobia or Fear of Floods is the problem that often significantly impacts the quality of life. It can cause panic attacks and keep people distant from their loved ones and business partner. Symptoms typically include rapid breathing, irregular heartbeat, sweating, nausea, although everyone experiences antlophobia in their own way and may have different symptoms at varying times.

Though a variety of powerful drugs are often prescribed for antlophobia, side effects and/or withdrawal symptoms can be severe. Drugs do not "cure" antlophobia or any other phobia. Drugs temporarily suppress the symptoms through chemical interaction.

If you are living with antlophobia your career or school can be in jeopardy. Avoiding these issues indefinitely would mean resigning yourself to living in fear.

For anyone earning a living, the financial loss due to this phobia is immense. Living with fear means that you will never be able to concentrate fully and give your best.

Like all phobias, antlophobia is created by the unconscious mind as a protective mechanism. At any point in your past, there was likely an event linking floods and emotional trauma. Whilst the real-life scare of some kind, the condition can also be triggered by myriad events like movies, TV, or perhaps seeing someone else experience trauma.

But as long as the negative association is powerful enough, the unconscious mind thinks: this whole thing is very dangerous and keeps itself from getting in this kind of situation again. I know that I will attach terrible feelings to floods, that way I will steer clear in future and so be safe." Just like that antlophobia is born. Attaching emotions to situations is one of the most primary ways that humans learn. Often we just get the wiring wrong.

The actual phobia presents itself in different ways. Some sufferers experience it almost all the time, others just in response to direct stimuli.3

How Do We Get Treated For it

The practitioners will teach you how to regain control of your emotions and conquer your Antlophobia. Working with the practitioners, you will rapidly train your unconscious mind to connect different, positive feelings to the stimuli that triggers the phobia and you will learn quickly now to stop the root cause of your fear.

The practitioners do not use hypnosis for Antlophobia, but some modern techniques are equally relaxing and enjoyable. Clients immediately noticed that they feel different. Once the unconscious mind feels safe and learns how to respond appropriately, it will always know, so the results are permanent and the fear is gone forever.
