Acarophobia: Causes, Symptoms and Treatment |
||||||||||||||||||
Acarophobia is a kind of fear of itching or of the insects that cause itching. You are not the only one who is suffering from this phobia. Many sufferers are surprised to learn that they are far from alone in this surprisingly common, although often unspoken, phobia. Acarophobia is an intense fear that poses no real danger. While adults with Acarophobia realize that these fears are irrational, they often find that facing, or even thinking about facing the feared situation brings on a panic attack or severe nervousness.
Breathlessness, excessive sweating, feeling sick, nausea, dry mouth, shaking, heart palpitations, inability to speak or think clearly, a fear of dying, becoming mad or losing control, a sensation of detachment from reality or a full blown anxiety attack.
Hypnotherapy: it helps to reprogram your subconscious "programs" that may be part of your fear. When these programs are "de-bugged" the symptoms of Acarophobia are often minimized. However, some people do not like the feeling of loss of control in allowing someone else to play with their personal "software". Hypnotherapy is safe and works fast.
Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP): It is a set of methods that have been refined and tested over several decades with hundreds of thousands of patients in many countries. It uses the power of the imagination to reprogram your fear reactions quickly, painlessly and long-lastingly.
According to NLP, the root of a phobia is an erroneous assemblage of your mental codes. You can cure yourself by going into your unconscious mind and rearranging those mental codes.
In many cases, you can simply select one of the clearly described exercises, try it out and experience a cure. In some cases, you will need to try a few of the techniques until you find one that works for you, or you will need to repeat the exercises a few times for reinforcement.
Unlike medication and talk therapy, NLP techniques attack and disable the Acarophobia at its source, instead of just treating the symptoms. Unlike cognitive behavior therapy, NLP techniques do not hurt, either mentally or physically. And there are no side effects for NLP techniques.
NLP is essentially the study and practice of how we create our reality. Usually the interventions of acarophobia are quite rapid and effective.
Energy Psychology is rising as an excellent therapy for fears and phobias because in studies it is shown to be rapid, safe, effective and long lasting. It is based on a theory and practice that has been around for a couple of years. It has the same basis or roots as acupuncture, except in this case there are no needles used. You can call it emotional acupuncture - without the needles. Recent scientific studies have shown Energy Psychology to be very efficient. Energy Psychology combines the advantages of the above treatment therapies.
