Medication or Psychotherapy are not the magic cures, but these are the great relievers for the patient suffering with any type of Anxiety Disorders. However, a proper diagnosis of the patient is important before he / she receives any kind of treatment with a help of an expert.
A psychiatrist conducts a through diagnostic of the patient affected with Anxiety Disorders that includes diagnostic evaluation, an interview and review of patients' medical records. The evaluation helps in identifying specific anxiety disorders and to establish the fact whether other medical condition of the person contributing to the Anxiety Disorders. After diagnosis is made, an expert physician prescribes the necessary therapies to the patient.
Anti - anxiety drugs, mild tranquilizers and antidepressants are prescribed for treating different kinds of Anxiety Disorders. A lot of choices are available in each drug class but it is not established yet, for what kind of Anxiety Disorders which drug is most effective. The effect of medication varies person to person. Behavioral therapy monitors a patient through relaxation techniques like breathing from the diaphragm, and also through gradual exposure to the frightening object or situation.
This therapy helps the patients to understand their thinking. This makes the patient react differently to circumstances; objects / situations what causes him / her Anxiety disorders. So the patients overcome and start behaving normal.
Psychodynamic psychotherapy is based on the fact that 'Anxiety Disorders symptoms are the consequences of unconscious mental conflict'. This therapy helps in uncovering the meanings of symptoms to relieve them.
